Our client, a NSW Government Department are searching for a Technical Business Analyst to join a team that is dedicated to helping people re-skill and get back into the workforce. This is a joint initiative with the Federal Government and therefore requires the successful candidate to work on one key project (replacement of an API/web service), but also BAU tasks. The existing database has regular quarterly releases, but also needs to have parts of it be disabled and then replaced to maintain business effectiveness. For this reason, they are seeking a Business Analyst who has a technical background (ideally development), in order that you can communicate often and effectively with developers and understand potential issues that might arise.

Role: Technical Business Analyst
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Length: Till the end of June 2022. Chance of extending.

Daily Rate: $720 to $866.40 per day + Super.
Location: Parramatta and with flexibility for WFH. From 2022 onwards there is a roadmap to return to the office, 1 or 2 days per week.

  • Gather business and system requirements and document functional, application and system specifications for Change Requests to the system.
  • The providing of accurate advice about complex technical system issues and solutions to assist with specifying business requirements for new/existing solutions.
  • Identifying and documenting any impacts of new development on the existing IT system and then being able to produce quality reports and other documents afterwards.

About You:

  • An ability to embrace ambiguity. Within the project the impacts on the system or Commonwealth requirements for new data sources are not known.
  • A technical background or experience before becoming a BA. This should ideally be as a developer but can also include software engineering, implementation lead. An understanding of Oracle databases, Power Build and Java is deemed favourable.
  • Someone who can gather requirements and be able to communicate effectively with others.
  • Government experience is necessary.
  • Balancing internal expectations and the need to partner with key stakeholders to deliver on projects.
  • Supporting the delivery of a complex program and initiatives to bring about a range of efficiencies and benefits.
