Talenza have been engaged by a leading international insurance and reinsurance company to source a Delegated Authorities Manager. The organisation offers a diverse portfolio of commercial, personal and specialty products, as well as risk management solutions.

This opportunity is based in Sydney and will be a 6-month contract role with the opportunity to convert into a permanent position.

The Role:


As the Delegated Authorities Manager, you will perform quantitative analytics on portfolio return and risk. You will assist in the development and implementation of internal models to support asset allocation decision making and the setting of appropriate risk tolerances and budgets. This role involves managing delegated authorities and managing a large list of stakeholders across all levels up to the board.

This is an interesting role and would be well suited to someone who is comfortable with taking responsibility, open to change and have a flexible and versatile working style.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing delegated authorities and managing a large list of stakeholders across all levels up to the board.
  • Implement and integrate internal models for utilization in asset allocation decisions and capital management.
  • Develop models to monitor portfolio risk and return as well as identifying investment opportunities, formulating expected portfolio and asset class returns.
  • Effectively drive the use of technology to streamline and automate existing processes and develop new analytical tools.
  • Publication of periodic investment risk reports and education pieces for global stakeholders.
  • Data validation, cleansing, maintenance, and visualization, ensuring data quality, accuracy, and completeness for distribution to global stakeholders.
  • Engagement with internal and external stakeholders, responding to a range of quantitative requests, production of reports and presentations, and participate in special projects as requested.
  • Conduct independent market, financial and portfolio research, staying well informed on current financial developments whilst establishing an understanding of how such market events will impact the investment portfolio.

Skills & Experience Needed:

  • Sound understanding of data processes and comfortable with data visualization and automation.
  • Ideally you will have technical insurance experience.
  • Understanding of stochastic modelling, financial mathematics, risk statistics and stress testing.
  • Strong financial markets acumen with a sound understanding of multi asset portfolio management and strategy. Numerical with excellent analytical and problem-solving capability and an ability to work systematically through complex matters and positively influence outcomes.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal as well as a positive, proactive attitude.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines.
