Principal Manager (support the Office of Chief Executive) - NSW Government
Location: CBD, Sydney, with great WFH flexibility
Rate: $1000 - $1020 per day + Super
Contract Length: till 17/07/2022
Note: Must have sound knowledge of the workings of Government communications and relationship management.

We are currently seeking an experienced Principal Manager for our NSW Government client who will be responsible for developing and maintaining appropriate management, governance and control arrangements for the Division.
This includes coordinating across the division to maintain oversight of all major activities and issues, driving a consistent approach to high performance across the Division, and to integrate information at a senior executive level. The role will support effective management of the assigned team and act as the critical source of information for the wider organisation and external stakeholders as required.

The role provides critical support to the divisional leadership team.
It supports the leader in the effective management of the group, in the integration between department projects or other teams, and in the relationship with stakeholders across the department.

Keys to Role:
* Experience at a senior level in a complex fast moving environment (e.g. matrix reporting model)
* Sound knowledge of the workings of Government communications and relationship management

Key accountabilities:
* Model good leadership to inspire direction and delivery, develop people, and drive change
* Live the NSW Public Sector and organisational values to achieve outstanding outcomes for the organisation and customers
* Coordinate business planning processes for the Division, ensuring alignment with corporate strategies and initiatives, and drafting plans for approval by the Division to be translated into meaningful performance targets, as well as provide assurance and regular reporting for senior management.
* Develop, implement and review frameworks to support the identification of, and report on key risks, highlight interdependencies, report on progress and facilitate the successful management of issues to support performance of the Division
* Manage forecasting, monitoring, controls and reporting on performance including monitoring of progress against approved costs to ensure the division meets its milestones and obligations
* Prepare accurate and detailed budget and forecast cash flow and milestone reports, containing recommendations on approval of costs and variations, up to date summaries of contract expenditure and identifying and addressing any program issues
* Support the implementation of the Departments internal governance framework including promoting a positive culture of high quality governance in order to aid sound decision-making, to manage risk systematically and to continuously improve business processes
* Provide committee secretariat services including and supporting the management of meetings
* Lead and manage the internal approvals, management systems, reporting, documentation and communications to support the delivery and management activities of the team
* Prepare detailed performance reports and high level briefing notes for use in management and executive meetings and for inclusion in corporate plans, business papers, annual reports and other corporate and ministerial project reporting to satisfy SM, TfNSW, Government and stakeholder interests

Key challenges:
* Keeping abreast of current and emerging best practice, Government policy and statutory requirements.
* Working across multiple teams to manage and resolve conflicting priorities, demands on resources and scheduling conflicts
* Maintaining a trusted adviser status within the Division through quality decision making, sound advice, thought leadership and a proactive approach
