Our client the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment are hiring for a highly capable Business Analyst to provide ICT reviews and analyse the organisation's business intentions, services, processes and information needs to identify changes.

Role Title: Business Analyst.

Start Date: ASAP

End Date: 12 months with a chance of extension.

Pay: $945 + Super p.d.

Location: WFH/Parramatta.

Description:
Key accountabilities:

  • Analyse business processes and engineer requirements and assist in the solutions to business problems.
  • Oversee small pieces of work, completed by contract Business Analysts.
  • Build and maintain relationships with other teams within the Business Unit and in related business units, to ensure that BA artefacts consider all of the services offered by BIS, and reflect the organisation's policies.
  • Assist in the development of standards and patters to enable business process improvement.
  • Peer review of Business Analysis artefacts produced by other members of the Business Analysis team.
  • At the direction of the Principal Business Analyst, create and maintain standard templates for use by the BA team.
  • Research and identify BA best practise and proactively apply these to continuous improvement of the BA practise, in consultation with the Principal Business Analyst.
  • Mentor other BA team members in Business Analysis techniques.

Key challenges:

  • Multi-tasking in a complex work environment, across a diverse range of domains including scientific, spatial, information and data management, digital, compliance, incident and case management.
  • Establish relationships with stakeholders to develop trust and ensure reliable and accurate information
  • Develop and apply knowledge of the strategic drivers within the agencies, to ensure requirements and processes are fit for purpose.
  • Distil business needs into meaningful and measurable requirements
  • Understand and document business processes and identify pain points and improvements.
  • Understand the key legislative and policy restrictions that govern the Cluster Agencies.


About you:

  • Business requirements - business process improvements, business system design, software UI/UX requirements).
  • Customer journey mapping.
  • Project Planning skills.
  • Test management experience is deemed very helpful.
  • Proven experience across a range of accounting and finance functions, with a sound knowledge of accounting principles and standards, financial data processing and reporting.
  • Able to form key and collaborative relationships with the manager, work team and clients/customers.
  • NSW Government experience is deemed desirable.
