Talenza have been exclusively engaged to source the Head of Quality Engineering on the behalf of ASX.

This is a newly created role that reports directly to the CTO and is responsible for establishing the operation of a mature Quality Engineering capability in support of ASX's business strategy.

This includes:

· Quality Engineering reporting & governance

· Quality Engineering methods and practices

· Testing Services delivery with projects

· Testing Shared Services (automation, tooling and infrastructure)

· Testing Workforce competency and training

ASX would like a proven Quality Engineering background combined with strong senior stakeholder management and influencing skills are required as is a strategic mindset.

What you'll do:

Responsible for the establishment, management and operation of the Quality Engineering capability and practice within ASX, including the following but not limited to:

Quality Engineering methods and practices:

  • Establish, maintain and support the enterprise adoption of policies, procedures and processes to ensure the quality of system/software enabled change and the maturity of the system/software development lifecycle (including testing)
  • Works with product development teams to establish quality requirements for individual products, embeds QA/QC controls into development workflows, and ensures that all products comply with regulatory and company standards
  • Develop and enable advanced and contemporary testing methods and practices across ASX including (exploratory testing, combinatorial testing, test optimisation among others)
  • Implement an uplift program to align Quality Engineering and Testing at ASX to internationally accepted industry standards (ISO29119) at Capability Maturity Model Level 4 (or equivalent)
  • Champion enterprise adoption of increased quality maturity through visible leadership and engagement at all levels in the organisation

Quality Engineering reporting & governance:

  • Provide actionable quality engineering reporting and governance independently of project reporting, aligning to contemporary best practice for metrics and aligning metrics with risk management reporting and indicators
  • Provide actionable and metrics-driven executive-level and board-level enterprise reporting on system/software quality, aligning to the ASX risk framework
  • Testing services delivery with projects
  • A quality coaching service advising senior stakeholders on appropriate methods of managing system/software quality risk within projects, and ensuring projects are operating with a quality-first mindset

Testing Shared Services (automation, tooling and infrastructure):

  • A quality engineering services group providing shared quality engineering services and best practice, including non-functional testing, test automation, test data management and test environment requirements management

Testing Workforce competency and training:

  • A skilling, training and career development framework for all quality and testing-based resources across ASX

Quality Engineering continuous improvement

  • Keeps abreast of latest trends in the field of quality management and works to improve quality and productivity through process innovation

Ideal Experience & Background:

· Ten+ years of relevant experience in IT, quality assurance or related field

· Thorough knowledge of industry-specific quality control regulations, standards and policies

· Deep understanding of software/system development lifecycle, including a practitioner-level education and knowledge of software engineering and automation technologies

· Led Quality Engineering at an enterprise level at national critical infrastructure level or at an international mature software product organisation

· Led Quality Engineering at a CMM level 4 organisation

· Leadership experience, with a deep understanding of contemporary software development

· Consultative executive level relationship management experience and expertise, practiced in large and complex organisations

· Demonstrated communication skills, and the ability to view and explain technology and related processes from a customer perspective

· People management experience, managing resourcing, skills and performance.

· Extensive experience with validation and/or development of enterprise-class software applications

· Experience with continuous integration tooling

· Experience with Agile methodologies

· B.S. and / or M.S. degree in Computer Science or equivalent
