Our client the NSW Department of Education are hiring for a Design Manager to join the wider School Infrastructure Division. In this role you will be joining the Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) Team. The team aim to provide systems, tools and resources to be the agents of and leaders of industry reform, doing this by driving standard digital designs enabling Volumetic or Component part offsite manufacturing for onsite assembly.

Pay: $810 + Super p.d.

Location: WFH/Sydney CBD

Description:
Key accountabilities:

  • Direct daily support to the MMC Director and Senior Design Manager.
  • Support to the broader MMC team as required.
  • Assist with all MMC initiatives undertaken by the MMC Team and SINSW (i.e MMC Integrator)
  • Support other SINSW Departments and project teams to successfully manage and implement MMC
  • Facilitating effective MMC design implementation from masterplanning through to detailed design phases including during Early Contractor Involvement (VECI & ECI) phases should they be required.
  • Development and vetting of the MMC Kit of Parts.
  • Design management of design teams and in support of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assisting the MMC team in responding to MMC-based RFI's during all project phases.
  • Facilitate proactive identification of value-add MMC design and innovation while fostering an environment for MMC design excellence.
  • Manage MMC design evolution in the concept design phase within cost planning parameters and budgets.
  • Facilitate resolution of buildability and staging issues impacted by the project design while maintaining MMC principles.
  • Facilitate an environment to ensure design excellence in architectural built form, place-making, and innovation are explored and implemented to optimise Project outcomes.
  • Coordinate the briefing of the Design Consultants prior to commencing design work in regard to the Project Brief, Development Program, Design Standardisation / MMC principles and Cost Plan.
  • Assess MMC buildability aspects of the proposed design and consistency with the Project Brief and support the resolution of MMC issues in design documentation to ensure required standards are achievable.


Skills and Competencies - about you:

  • Demonstrated superior skills in all aspects of MMC/DfMA) design management and implementation.
  • A minimum 5 - 8 years industry experience on large projects across any sectors utilising MMC processes, approaches, BIM implementation and parametric modelling.
  • Promote and demonstrate a culture of excellence, collaboration, communication and innovation which is open and transparent at all times to foster trust and encourage a shared understanding of design standardisation and MMC principles with all internal and external professional stakeholders
  • Conduct business to the highest ethical standards and in line with the SINSW Values.
  • Display exceptional communication and collaboration skills which in turn fosters strong relationships.
  • Demonstrate a high level of commitment to projects to ensure their success.
