‘The Best IT Recruitment Company in Brisbane’ – Grass Roots

Default Author • Jul 30, 2019

If I had to sum up Talenza in just a few words, I would say we are “a genuine Australian success story in the recruitment sector.” This success is based around us living and breathing our customer-centric values that are at the heart of everything we do. Since opening our doors in Sydney in 2017, we have grown to a team of 25 experienced recruiters that have strong relationships, outstanding delivery and above all, a personalised service.

Our growth has truly been mind blowing. I believe that’s testament to our fearlessness to take the initiative and get things done. These are the things that attracted me to the business and why I’m proud to be part of its continued success as we expand into the Queensland market.

Watch this space: Like Sydney, our mission in Brisbane is to become known as the best IT recruitment company in the local market.

My Background and Why Brisbane?
I’m definitely no stranger to the challenges and triumphs of recruitment leadership. My 15+ years of commercial experience across the IT and Financial sectors has fine-tuned my ability to manage and grow large recruitment teams. At the end of the day, I thrive on building things from the ground up – creating processes that drive momentum and growth without letting the train run off the tracks. I’m all about embracing hard but intelligent work and having the grit to make business decisions that will positively impact my teams, our clients and our candidates.

Moving to Brisbane from Sydney seemed to be the natural choice for myself and my family.

Let’s face it, it’s hard to say no to the sunshine, lifestyle and quality of life up here. Having other family living in Queensland really made the choice an easy one. From a career perspective, we were already servicing the Brisbane market from Sydney, with dedicated teams that regularly travelled to see our customers. The growing business and local demand for a specialist recruitment firm meant it was time to commit to the Queensland market and open our second permanent office.

Why Talenza?

I already had great relationships with the Directors and knew of their positive reputation in the industry. In two years, they had established a fantastic client base that included some of the country’s top ASX-listed companies and their candidate database boasted some of the most qualified talent in the market.

On one side of the coin, leading a new team in Brisbane would mean being able to use all my past experiences to their fullest potential. Starting something on my own from scratch was a very exciting prospect. Being the final decision maker and taking the company to the next level was just too good an opportunity to pass up.

On the other side, I really liked the team and the culture of the organisation. The ethos matched mine and how I like to work. At Talenza, it’s all about our clients and candidates and this is evident with our approach to recruitment. What separates us from others in the market is the type of recruiter that the business attracts. I have rarely seen a team so experienced, with each individual a true expert in their field. Their understanding of the business is unrivalled and that is what underpins the partnerships they form. Above all, we don’t wax lyrical about anything we do – we are real, and our recruitment practices are personal as well as attentive. I wanted to be part of this unique culture from the get-go.

For me, this approach is perfect as it allows me to continue leading as I always have, where I can roll my sleeves up and work at the grass roots. Keeping my relationships and nurturing these partnerships is extremely important to me, and being a hands-on manager is something I take pride in. There is nothing I would ask my staff to do that I wouldn’t do myself. There is no substitute for fostering long-standing relationships and digging beyond the surface to meet individual needs.

Our Brisbane Goals
Ultimately, we want to build a reputation as Queensland’s best and most admired IT recruitment agency. We have done this in Sydney and I am confident our clients will reap the same benefits here. We are already the supplier of quality talent to some of the key employers in Queensland.

We aim to scale carefully, whilst looking to foster our culture and entrench our values even further. Despite only scratching the surface of the Brisbane market so far, the feedback has been fantastic. Our consultants are known to be hardworking and knowledgeable with their ears close to the ground. Being results-focused with a commitment to achieve our clients’ and candidates’ goals, we will continue to grow and evolve.

We’re all counting down the days until we officially open our Brisbane office on 1 August. Come pay us a visit, say ‘hi’ and meet the new team – we look forward to welcoming you to our ongoing story of success.

To discuss the opening of our new office or if you’re looking to join a recruitment agency that prides itself on offering an unparalleled level of service and is also proud to do things a little differently, get in touch.
